Welcome to Argyll and Bute Dialogue Youth
Argyll and Bute Dialogue Youth currently supports over 10,000 young people throughout the region. The Project Co-ordinator is based in Lochgilphead and supports six bases in the area - in Oban, Campbeltown, Rothesay, Islay, Helensburgh and Dunoon. Each base has its own youth worker actively involved in recruiting young people, supporting youth groups, and marketing and promoting Young Scot and Dialogue Youth.
Our unit has already been integrated into the local Community Planning Partnership process and is currently working with our CPP partners on a pilot project to encourage youth participation and active citizenship in Cowal and Bute.
We are also members of the Health and Well-being CPP sub-group and are involved in setting targets and projects, relevant to young people, through the Joint Health Improvement Plan. Dialogue Youth is also represented on the Argyll and Bute Safety Forum and provides additional services and input to individual key partners, such as the recently launched Choose Life initiative.
Future developments include:
- the building of a youth email database
- the provision of an SMS text message information system
- the implementation of a new electronic voting system, being piloted in one local high school, using the Young Scot card
Young people throughout the region have already taken part in Hack Pack training and the development of the local pages on the Young Scot portal. One of our main priorities is using the new consultation toolkit, Loud+Clear.
The on-going provision of diversionary schemes, such as our SplashDown project that provided free access to transport, gyms and pools during the school holidays, continues along with the development of new arts and culture projects.
